CAN A HASHTAG MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
YES
Since 2017 Fashion Revolution Week, for which we use #WhoMadeMyClothes to put pressure on brands to become more transparent in their supply chain, has documented an increase of over 100% in brand transparency to 2019.¹
NO
Not all hashtags have a meaning or a specific purpose. Sometimes we just use them for more visibility, in the hopes that our blue vintage dress will be on top of the search for #fashion.
MAYBE
Not when used inadequately. When we use hashtags in a context in which they do not fit we are deluding the message they carry and here for are also responsible for a loss in the search value hashtags were primarily made for.
