WHAT DOES SUSTAINABLE FASHION MEAN TO KARRY SCHWETTMANN?
“Sustainable Fashion means many things to me. First, it’s the ultimate goal :) While there are so many expressions of „sustainable fashion“, all have in common the goal of changing the narrative we have been telling ourselves about clothes. So hopefully, fast and unethical fashion soon is a thing of the past. It’s also about seeing what is not obvious. I don’t have a fashion background, I have never worked in fashion but since I could buy my own clothes, I’ve been buying them second hand. While I understand that some are iffy about wearing something that has been worn already, I think about clothes as a story. Every piece came a long way, through many hands, before we can buy it in the store - we should find appreciation in every step of along the way. And last but not least, sustainable fashion means having a community of people that I love being around and working with.”
